Maria is a qualified Art Curator, Art Consultant, Cataloguer and Collection Management professional with over 25 years experience in the Arts, Education and Commercial sectors as well as working for private collectors. She has demonstrated experience in collecting, cataloguing, installing and managing small to large art collections, including paintings,
photography, works on paper, multi-media, sculpture, ceramics and textiles. She has expertise in developing comprehensive collection management policies, including acquisition criteria and deaccessioning procedures, ensuring full alignment with ethical standards, legal requirements and organisational mission.

Maria is proficient in assessing conservation needs, including materials analysis, handling, storage, display, environmental monitoring and condition reporting. She consults with specialist conservators, when required, to have artworks assessed and restored to ensure
their longevity. She has knowledge in selecting and implementing appropriate archival framing and mounting solutions that protect artworks while enhancing their display. Maria is experienced in the protocols, procedures, and project management of commissioning artworks, managing the process from concept development through to delivery and installation.

Sue Burke is an Artist and Visual Arts Educator with over 30 years experience. She has developed her own practice through immersions in both local and international art residency programs. These experiences have informed her practice and culminated in the organisation and exhibition of her works in a range of spaces. Her practice includes drawing, printmaking, painting, mixed-media and light projection installations.

 

As an educator, she has worked in several independent schools where she has taught both art and design from junior years to VCE and IB. She has expertise in developing Visual Arts programs that draw upon both traditional and contemporary practice, from public and private collections. She has a breadth of knowledge regarding emerging and established artists, identifying and articulating the aesthetic characteristics, as well as the ideas and intentions that underpin artworks.

 

Sue has been actively involved in various roles related to the art collection within education settings. She was a member of the Art Advisory & Art Acquisition Committee at Xavier College. She developed the formal documentation of the Xavier College art collection to be used for educational purposes creating online resources with the collection.

 

​Sue has expertise in selecting and writing about art to suit the contextual spaces in which it is presented. She understands the importance of effective, dynamic and meaningful audience engagement with artworks.
